Rick Wixo - Comfort & Joy

In memory of my friend, Rick Wixo, I'm sharing these 2 photos of Rick during the holiday season:

The below photo is taken from the December 18, 1997 issue of the San Francisco Frontiers Magazine. Rick's modeling work got him on the cover of the local magazine.

This is my favorite. It's the poster ad for the "Comfort & Joy" a production Rick starred in. I saw his performance twice and Rick was nice enough to autograph the poster for me.

Merry Christmas Rick with lots of love.

Tis the Season...

The holiday season is upon us.

Thanksgiving has come and gone. Spent Turkey with family in the East Bay.

Black Friday as come and gone. I went out and braved the crowd. But, I went during a decent hour. Didn't get what I wanted. Maybe in the next couple of weeks of sales.

Christmas is just over a month away.

On a sad note, this will be the 3rd holiday season without Sweetie.

But, Sweetheart is always in my thoughts.

Love you and miss you so much, Sweetie.

Ashley & Jay's Wedding

Today was Ashley's and Jay's wedding.

They had a beautiful church ceremony at Mission Dolores.

The reception was held the InterContinental Hotel. The ballroom was decorated in Black & White.

It was nice to see family again. It's been a while since seeing the cousins again. Last time, it was for a funeral. But, this was happier occasion.

Best to the new couple.

But, I was a little sadden when I noticed that I was by myself. Sweetie wasn't with me at this celebration. I teared up a couple times when the music played and thought about Sweetie.

Miss you and love you Sweetheart.

Clouds...and rainbows...

The rains have come to the Bay Area.

Two of my favorite things of nature during this time.

One - the puffy white clouds

Two - the rainbow the rain leaves. In this case, the rainbow is over the city.

Rick Wixo's Final Goodbye...

Last night, a number of Rick's good friends celebrated his final goodbye.

On Rick's Facebook page, his good friends posted a video of their boat ride, where they scattered Rick's in the Pacific Ocean.

In her final words, one of Rick's friends, before scattering his ashes into the Pacific, said "Rick, you are now free.".

When I saw Rick's Final Goodbye video, it reminded me of Sweetheart's scattering ceremony on the SF Bay. I too had to say goodbye to someone I loved.

So, as I said on Rick's Facebook, Rick is now free but Rick isn't forgotten in our hearts.

Rick..Rest in Peace/Paradise..until we meet again.

Sunset in the City...

It's Saturday afternoon and the sun is beginning to set down on the City.

This is Sweetheart's favorite time of day.

Sweetie loved how the sunset's rays would reflect of the downtown buildings. Our apartment faces east so that we have a great view of the City's downtown buildings.

The reflections of the sunset would sparkle and twinkle against the building windows.

This time of day when I look out the living room window it reminds of Sweetie.

Love you and miss you Sweetheart.

I love the sentiment.

Goodbye...Rick Wixo...

Tonight in Los Angeles, at the Theatre West in Hollywood, it's Rick's Closing Night.

Rick's friends are coming together to celebrate his wonderful life.

Just earlier, Rick's friends got together for memorial walk around Silver Lake Reservoir. Silver Lake was one of Rick's favorite places.

During the day, I thought of Rick and of tonight's celebration. I really wished I could have made it for the walk and event at Theatre West.

But, I know Rick knew that I was there in spirit to join his friends to celebrate his wonderful life.

Tonight, when I look up in the evening sky, the brightest star will be Rick's. Just like his wonderful smile, Rick will shine brightly.

Rick touched many people. Rick was much loved and will never be forgotten.

Take care my friend.

I know that someday we'll meet again.

Love you and miss you.

Regrets...

With Rick's memorial in 2 days, I'm regretting that I'm won't be able to attend the event in LA.

LA is so close. It's an hour flight from the Bay Area. One can even drive down to LA in half a day.

But, due to circumstances, I won't be able to attend my friend's memorial.

The regret is not keeping in touch with Rick when he left for LA to pursue his acting career. I saw Rick's work while he was local theatre in SF. Thank god for You Tube. I was able to see Rick's work. Love Rick Supercut ad. Then, there was the "Mash" ad for the NHL.

But, yesterday, a good friend of Rick posted a video on You Tube via his Facebook page.

It was great to see Rick at work. Acting was passion for him. In the beginning of the video, there was portion where Rick introduced himself. It was heartbreaking to learn about his parents. But, what brought me to tears was his piece in the Laramie Project. The pain in his eyes and the emotions he gave at the lost of Ryan was very powerful. But, what I really enjoyed was seeing Rick again and hearing his voice.

Thank you for the posting.

Keep smiling Rick.

Legacy...I was here...

With Rick's memorial coming up this weekend and next week and the 3rd anniversary of sweetheart's passing in January, the thought of one's legacy comes to mind.

The thoughts of what will I be remembered for when I'm no longer here.

Thus, the title of a Glee song last season: I was here.

I difficult right now to think of it.

But, as I heard recently, "Life is short and fragile".

One needs to live for every minute. Don't take anything or anyone for granted. Because you might have tomorrow.

I thought Sweetie would be with me always. I thought we'd grow old together.

I thought I'd see Rick on the big screen as movie actor.

But, now I have good memories of both.

Another tear...

Tonight's episode of Parenthood dealt with the news of Christina's cancer.

Christina broke the news to her family after a baseball game.

No actual words were said but the emotions from the news was evident on the family member's faces.

A tear was shed because I thought of my friend, Rick.

I knew from last year that Rick was being treated for some type of cancer. I can only imagine what Rick went through. From his blog entries - made by Rick and his close friends. I thought Rick had won his battle with cancer.

But, last month, on Sept 22, 2012, Rick lost has battle with cancer. From what I've read from his Facebook page, Rick was surrounded by his family and friends.

This weekend there will be memorial service in Rick's home town of Grand Forks ND.

Next Thursday, there will be a memorial service in Los Angeles held by his friends.

My sympathy to his family and friends.

You'll be missed Rick.

America's Cup...Fleet Week...

It's a busy week in the City.

It's Fleet Week. Ships and sailors are all around. Today, the Blue Angles took their fly by over the Bay Area for this weekend's show.

Also, the America's Cup races begin tomorrow. It's the second time for these sailing boats to be on the Bay.

Sweetie would have loved seeing America Cup.

Love you and miss you Sweetie.

Current loss...

With the passing of my friend, Rick Wixo, this past Saturday, shows me how short and fragile life is.

I'm still in shock at the loss of Rick.

This leads me to reflect on one's legacy. What are the things that one be remembered for when he moves on.

When you read Rick's Facebook page, there many kind, warm, and loving thoughts & memories his family and friends wrote. Rick left his mark while he was with us. I know Rick knows the impact he made on the lives he touched.

As for me, I'm still adjusting to the loss of my sweetheart 2 years ago. Not a single day goes by that I don't think of this special person in my life.

And now, I add Rick to my daily thoughts.

Rick Wixo - In Appreciation

This is in memory of my friend, Rick Wixo.

Yesterday, Rick passed away. He lost his battle with cancer. Rick passed away in peace and with his family and friend around him.

Rick's Facebook page is full of entries from family and friends expressing their love for him.

I'm still at a lost and heartbroken with Rick's passing.

Yesterday, Rick left us on earth. But, heaven has a new angel and star that will shine brightly.

Rick, you are greatly missed and loved.

For me, I'll miss your smile.

Rick Wixo...you'll be missed...

Just found out tonight that my good friend, Rick Wixo, passed away today.

I was checking Facebook and notice posting of Rick passing by his friends.

I was totally shocked by new. I knew that Rick had cancer from previous posting and I though Rick was doing well.

I'm sadden by Rick's passing and my heart is heavy. My prayers are for his family and friends.

I knew Rick while he was in San Francisco. Rick was acting local theater productions. I remember seeing his performance in "Comfort & Joy" at the New Conservatory Theatre Center. I sent Rick flowers for opening night. I even had Rick sing his poster for the show.

Rick was a great person. Great smile. Always had a smile when he greeted me.

Rick, you'll be greatly missed.

Love you Rick.

I cried today...

This evening I attended Myrna's memorial service. Myrna's family and friends were there. There was a service celebrating Myrna's life. Myrna was eulogized by her niece, Verma and her boyfriend. They had nice words and stories about Myrna.

The song "How Great Thou Art" was played.

I made it thru the hour's service. But, the family's & friend's emotions of losing Myrna got to me.

I told my family that I had to leave because the service was hitting close to home.

It's been over 2 years that I lost my sweetheart. At Myrna's memorial service, I almost broke down. I had tears in my eyes when I left the place.

When I got outside with tears in my eyes, I looked up in the sky and told sweetie that I was thinking about him.

After 2 years, it still hurts. My heart aches for my sweetheart. He's always in my thoughts and my heart.

Miss you and love you sweetheart.
